School Homerooms
« on: January 25, 2012, 02:29:42 am »
## HOMEROOMS ##

Hentai High has five homerooms, representing broad character types to hopefully inspire roleplaying. While it's not required at this time for all students to join them, it's encouraged for the sake of fitting characters more into the politics and rivalries of the school. If your character doesn't fit into any of them exactly, don't worry. Not everything in a room's description will apply to everyone in it; the descriptions are general tendencies only. The homerooms are there to facilitate the building of plots, not so much to validate the personality your character already has. When deciding which one to join, the question should be less, "Which one is most like my character?" and more "What does my character want? Which homeroom is best able to help me get it?" Homerooms are about working together in groups to achieve goals. Characters can also be assigned into rooms involuntarily over the course of roleplay (though out-of-character, picking a room is still voluntary).

It is worth noting that none of the homerooms are inherently "evil" or "good."

The homerooms are usually referred to by letter, A through E, though each has nicknames.

---

### Homeroom A - Kage (Shadow) ###
   - **What they want:** In no particular order- popularity, academic  success, sex, money, power. This homeroom is for the ambitious. They cooperate to help members of their homeroom get what they want. Obviously, not everyone can be supreme dictator of Hentai High, but most are content with lesser goals (like just being happy, extroverted perverts), while some few might compete with one another to be queen bee.
   - **What they offer:** Homeroom A members are power-brokers, often willing to trade access to something they've already gotten in exchange for something else. They try to use what power they have to make sure other people get what they want, so that members of Homeroom A can get what they want. Senior members should cultivate networks of clients in a variety of homerooms who owe them favors, so that they have resources they can draw upon at will.
   - **Rivals:** Homeroom A finds rivals whenever someone gets in between them and what they want. Primarily they're at odds with Homeroom C, who object to their perceived lack of principles, though sometimes A and C find common cause against Homeroom D, who cause trouble for both.
   - **Allies:** Homeroom A may ally with members of Homeroom D to be muscle, enforcement, or to dirty their hands with things the Homeroom A members don't want to mess with directly. They ally with members of Homeroom B to cheer them on, help clean up after them, help them organize fundraisers, help them decorate for the parties they organize to increase their popularity, and so on. They ally with members of Homeroom E for their expertise in a variety of subjects. They can even ally with members of Homeroom C to help support rules that benefit them.

---

### Homeroom B  - Moe (Cute) ###
   - **What they want:** They want everyone to be happy, so they cook, clean, decorate, cheer, turn rivals into friendships and turn conflicts into peace. They believe friendship is magic and want to prove this to everyone.
   - **What they offer:** Homeroom B is full of talented decorators, designers, cooks, maids,  matchmakers, peacemakers, organizers, and spirit-boosters. Other homerooms find them valuable as diplomats, so when proposing an alliance between homerooms, members of Homeroom B are the ones to go to.
   - **Rivals:** Although members of Homeroom B want to get along with everybody, they find themselves opposed to anyone who's fomenting conflict. This means they try to convince members of Homeroom A to temper their ambitions, Homeroom C to temper their righteousness, Homeroom D to be less trouble-making, and Homeroom E to be more sociable.
   - **Allies:** Because they want everyone to be happy, Homeroom B allies themselves with everyone, trying to get the best possible result for all parties. They'll help Homeroom A in their ambitions, help Homeroom C in their quests, help Homeroom D in their schemes, and help Homeroom E in their projects as long as nobody's causing stress or unhappiness in doing so.

---

### Homeroom C - Hikari (Light) ###
   - **What they want:** Homeroom C want everyone to do what's right, as they define it, and take steps to ensure that this happens. They don't necessarily all agree on what this is, and there can certainly be internal conflicts. Homeroom C isn't simply an arm of the campus police, of the priesthood, or of the administration, though many members of this homeroom belong to one or all of the other groups and tend to get along with authority figures. Members of Homeroom C tend to be more rule-minded than other homerooms, but they're allowed to disagree with one another or with the faculty (and subject to the same punishments as others if they break school rules).
   - **What they offer:** Homeroom C believe they have righteousness on their side, so inducing others to go their way tends to involve threatening to get people in trouble or to take the law into their own hands when other means of persuasion fail. That said, members of Homeroom C have as wide a range of talents as any other homeroom, and they aren't incapable of quid pro quo if the situation warrants it. One might offer to help Homeroom A students with their homework in exchange for backing down from a plan to blackmail the other cheerleaders, for example. They may also lend their martial talents, for those who have any, to help protect or punish in causes they agree with. Members of Homeroom C aren't all warriors: they can be artists, cooks, athletes, cheerleaders, herbalists, witches, or musicians. What distinguishes them is a commitment to what's right. They aren't all goody-two-shoes either, since some of them have views of goodness that don't mesh at all with the rest of the school.
   - **Rivals:** Members of Homeroom C tend to oppose the schemes of Homeroom A and the mischief of Homeroom D. They can have close friends in those classes, but their philosophies tend to put them at odds in specific schemes. They might also object to perverted hobbies or mad experiments of Homeroom E, believing them to be perversions of decency or science.
   - **Allies:** Members of this homeroom will sometimes go to Homeroom A for favors to advance their goals, to Homeroom B when they need diplomats or spirits boosted, to Homeroom D if they need someone to get their hands dirty in the way the Gotham City police relies on Batman to do what they can't, and to Homeroom E if they need the many talents of that group.

---

### Homeroom D - Yanki (Delinquents) ###
   - **What they want:** Members of Homeroom D tend to be mischief makers, free spirits, trouble-makers, users of recreational substances, or petty criminals. Many have their hearts in the right place but can't seem to stay out of trouble. Others have their hearts in the wrong place. This class is often a punishment, so some just want to get back in the good graces of the faculty, while others revel in their outlaw status. They differ from Homeroom A in that they tend to be more about having a good time than improving themselves or their status, and some of them might just be extroverted perverts with few goals or vices other than the pursuit of pleasure.
   - **What they offer:** Members of this class tend to be willing to do things that other classes may balk at or want plausible deniability for. They can act as cheap muscle, as devious burglars, as underworld connections for procuring illicit substances or forbidden weapons, and a variety of other useful skills.
   - **Rivals:** Homeroom D are as willing to pull pranks on Homeroom A members to burst their egos as they are to puncture the self-righteousness of Homeroom C, and equally likely to corrupt the innocence of Homeroom B members, and to exploit or take advantage of the shyness of Homeroom E members.
   - **Allies:** Even the most upright of Hentai High students sometimes needs the resources Homeroom D is able to provide, even if they don't like to admit it. Homeroom E members may go to them for rare or forbidden manga, rare ingredients, or bootleg equipment. Homeroom A may go to them for their criminal expertise or to help intimidate their rivals. Homeroom C may approach them for secret missions that they can't let the administration know about.

---

### Homeroom E - Otaku (Geeks) ###
   - **What they want:** Although stereotyped as otaku, Homeroom E are some of the most talented, smartest, and most knowledgeable people in the school because they tend to be so obsessive and thorough. They can be brilliant scientists, wizards, computer programmers, artists, mathematicians, musicians, martial artists, and athletes. They tend to share an awkwardness or shyness that means Homeroom E meetings are collections of wacky misfits, each with their own specialty. They also tend toward a fondness for eccentric hobbies like manga, science fiction, RPGs, computer games, and other so-called geeky activities. They want rare equipment, obscure manga titles, a steady supply of snacks, someone to clean up their absent-minded messes, recreational drugs, sex robots, and whatever else their obsessions require.
   - **What they offer:** When the other homerooms need someone who's really good at something or really knows what they're talking about, they usually go to Homeroom E, which makes them actually one of the most powerful groups in the school, their unique skills able to tip the balance between conflicts. Members of Homeroom E tend to act as a neutral faction, offering their services to the highest bidder.
   - **Rivals:** Homeroom B comes into conflict with Homeroom E in a weird way, by continuously trying to pull them from their hobbies and obsessions and into sociability with others. Homeroom B members try to convince them to go to parties, set them up on dates, drag them into Truth or Dare games, and in general pester them by tearing them away from their MMORPGs, their manga, their studies, their experiments, their projects, their obsessive practicing of martial arts, or whatever else they're doing. Homeroom D students often pick on or tease Homeroom E students, and Homerooms C and A may seek to exploit them.
   - **Allies:** Homeroom E tends to ally themselves with whoever makes them the best offer. That's not to say that they're particularly greedy or mercenary, only that they're usually too engrossed in their obsessions to be torn away from them without good reason. Some may agree with members of Homeroom C about what the right thing to do is, or agree with Homeroom D about what the fun thing to do is. They may truly appreciate Homeroom B for making an effort to include them when it might otherwise be difficult for them to socialize.

The only way to truly become a scientist is to try and crawl over the corpses of all the scientists that lived and tried to do shit before you and see just a little bit further than they did, and hope that you become one of those corpses at the top of the pile for the next guy to climb over.

Homeroom Placement Quiz
« Reply #1 on: July 25, 2012, 05:36:19 pm »
This is to help students figure out which homeroom they would most likely best fit in.  It's not a requirement to join the class you fit with most -- some people may even choose to RP as being intentionally mis-placed into the "wrong" class. This is also not a perfect, one-size-fits-all process, but it should help give you at least a general idea of where you might belong.

Answer the following the questions from an IC point-of-view, choosing the letter/answer your character would most agree with. If none of the answers fit perfectly, choose the closest one.

1. If you saw a lost kitten on the street would you:
  A) Try to find the owner, and use the kitten to get a reward from them.
  B)  Pet and cuddle the kitten because it looks cute and sad and defenseless.
  C)  Try to find the owner so you can return the kitten to its proper home.
  D) Take the kitten for yourself.
  E)  Study the kitten and possibly attempt to decipher its kitty language

2. Social structure and laws are:

  A) Ideas to be manipulated for personal advantage
  B) Silly things; the only rule is to be nice and care for           everyone
  C) Guidelines for everyone to follow so we can have a safe   and just society.
  D) Annoyances that only foolish people worry about
  E) Social structures that are interesting to observe from     the outside

3. When you're eating, how do you eat?

 A. I make sure I'm first in line so that I don't have to wait.
 B. I help other people cut up their food and like to make my dish decorative for a lovely meal-time presentation.
 C. I make sure I use the salad fork for the salad and the soup spoon for the soup.
 D.  I use the soup spoon for the salad and the salad fork for the soup, just because.
 E. I'm too busy browing the internet to eat.

 4.  How does shit happen?

  A. Shit happens to those who cross me.
  B. Shit happens, and it makes me sad!
  C. Shit happens, but justice is served.
  D. Shit happens when I'm around.
  E. I'm busy researching a paper on exactly how shit happens.

 5. How many of you does it take to screw in a light bulb?

  A. Just me and whoever I can get to screw it in for me.
  B. Don't worry, I'll help screw it in!
  C. I'll make sure whoever's responsible for light bulbs gets on that.
  D. Screw in your own light bulb!
  E. I just invented a new light bulb!

6. What do you do with your cow?
  A. Load the cow up with hormones for more profit regardless of any potential harm to the cow
  B. Pet it and love it! Dress it up in cute outfits!
  C. Make sure the cow is will taken care of and that the milk it produces is safe to consume
  D. Spraypaint someone else's cow.
  E. Obsessively collect cow manga

 7. You see two men fighting on the street.  What do you do?

   A.  Wait for one to take the other out and then attack the victor, who will now be weakened
  B.  Shout at them to stop fighting and offer to buy them ice cream!
  C.  Knock both their heads together to stun them and then try to figure out who is at fault.
  D.  Try to pick their pockets while they are distracted.
  E. Make a careful observation of their fighting styles and compare to various combat-based anime and videogames.

  8.  You have an opportunity to cheat on a test.  What do you do?

  A. I would make sure no one can catch me, cheat, then implicate another student for cheating just to throw off any suspicion.
  B. I would never cheat!  B-but if you need extra help you can cheat off of my paper just this once!
  C.  I would never cheat and furthermore I would report anyone I saw attempting to cheat
  D.  I wouldn't even be there for the test
  E.  I don't need to cheat.  But people often cheat off of me.

9. What is your combat style like?

    A. I will fight only when it gains me some advantage or moves me towards a goal.  I observe my opponent carefully and exploit any weaknesses.  I will give no mercy.
    B.  I would only fight to protect someone I loved!  Or possibly a very cute animal!  But mostly I would try to use my words to avoid violence!
    C. I fight with honor and never without due cause, usually in defense of the weak and innocent.  I will fight all out, but only for as long as my opponent is a threat.
    D. Only fight if it is necessary...or if someone just really pisses me off.  I fight dirty: biting, scratching, throwing mud, whatever helps me win.
   E. My fighting style is a combination of 12 obscure martial arts, 7 of which are based on various styles found in manga.  For example in the manga Wolf and Cub the main character uses a style called... ((this goes on for quite some time))...

  10. Sex is:

    A. About power and control and personal pleasure
    B. Something sweet and romantic to be shared between  people who really love each other!
    C. An act of union to be respected and taken seriously.
    D. It's all fucking isn't it?
    E. An act of procreation for the preservation of the speices.  Nevertheless some people use it for pleasure as well.  I have a catalogue of over 1000 different varieties of sex acts including oral, vaginal, anal....((this goes on for quite some time...))

Now, look at the pattern of your answers. If you have more of one particular letter, then that's the class you should consider joining! You probably won't have chosen all one letter -- but there should be a general trend. Again, this is just an aid for RP!
